Finding Clarity | 33 Conversations Podcast

In a recent conversation with Michael Abney, I had the opportunity to reflect on my journey through nonprofit work and how it has shaped my understanding of service, leadership, and purpose.

I shared stories from my time with the Peace Corps, Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity, and how those experiences taught me an important lesson: real service is less about doing things for people and more about listening, supporting, and building genuine relationships. The work that matters most often happens slowly, through trust and connection.

We also talked candidly about leadership and organizational change. I discussed the challenges I see in strategic consulting—especially how hard it can be to move from a well-crafted plan to meaningful implementation. Change is rarely linear, and clarity often comes only after we step into uncertainty. Along the way, I have learned how critical it is to surround yourself with the right people and to focus on what you can control when the path forward feels unclear.

Throughout the conversation, we touched on reinvention, embracing change, and learning from experience rather than fearing the unknown. These themes are central to how I approach both my work and my calling.

If you are navigating leadership, wrestling with change, or thinking deeply about what service really means, I think you will find this conversation meaningful. I invite you to watch the full interview and join the reflection.
